 SERVICE CHARTER LESOTHO CORRECTIONAL SERVICE

 

                                              

Lesotho Correctional service was established by section 149 of the Constitution of Lesotho of 1993.

It is in accordance with the first Amendment to the Constitution Act No1 of 1996 that Lesotho Correctional Service is responsible for the Management of Correctional Institutions in Lesotho and the Superintendence of it is vested in the Commissioner subject to any direction by the Minister. The Commissioner is responsible for administration and discipline. The purpose of LCS is to contribute to mantainace and protection of society that is just peaceful and safe. 

 

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Lesotho Correctional Service as part of Criminal Justice System contributes to the protection of society by providing reasonable, safe, secure, orderly, humane custody and control of offenders in accordance to universally acceptable Human Rights Standards, by actively encouraging and assisting them in their Rehabilitation, Reformation and social Reintegration into the society as Law abiding citizens, capable of living industrious live.

Offering Security to offenders and community large at large.	Carefully recruited, properly trained and well informed staff members are essential to an effective Correctional   system.	No time
Rehabilitation and Integration of offender	-Consultation rooms for conducting  interviews to inmates -Transport for collecting essential information for  -Rehabilitation and conduction offender and victim mediation. - Qualified Social workers to carry all Rehabilitation Programs.	No time
